The Eucharist
ANOTHER WORD FOR COMMUNION: THE EUCHARIST
SPEAKS OF THANKSGIVING AND CELEBRATION
Luke 22:19 (NIV) And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
THE PHRASE “gave thanks” COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD EUCHARISTESAS
Proverbs 15:13 (ESV) A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.
Philippians 4:4-6 (ESV) Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
“WITH THANKSGIVING” MEANS EUCHARIST
EUCHARIST: CHARIS MEANS GRACE
Philippians 4:7-8 (ESV) And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
GRATITUDE IS THE GATEWAY TO PEACE
GOD’S GIFTS CAN ONLY BRING YOU JOY WHEN THEY ARE PARTNERED WITH GRATITUDE.
