OBEY IT AWAY

(HOLY MOMENTS Week 1)

LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY TIME, LIFE IS MEASURED IN MOMENTS.

Matthew 1:18 (NLT) This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.

JUST WHO WAS JOSEPH?

·      A carpenter (Matthew 13:55)

·      A righteous and faithful man (Matthew 1:19)

·      Descendant of David (Matthew 1:20, Luke 2:4)

·      Mary’s husband (Matthew 1:16)

·      Jesus’ earthly father (Matthew 13:55, Luke 3:23, John 1:45)

Matthew 1:20 (NLT) As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. …”

Matthew 1:24 (NLT) When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY TO OBEY IMMEDIATELY.

OBEDIENCE IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY, THE OUTCOME IS GOD’S

Matthew 1:20-21 (NLT) “… For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

John 14:16-17 (NIV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 16:7 (NIV) 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV) The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Acts 7:51 (NIV) “You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

Romans 8:12-14 (NIV) Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
